I have been going through a discipleship program with a brother lately. We just finished the section about satan. It reminded me of some of the scariest verses in all of the Bible, to me.
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
They describe the fallen angel, lucifer, and his quest for power. The last statement may be the most potent. “I will be like the most high”
It absolutely gives me chills.
Because pride is so strong these days. Our self centered culture. We all ask, how do I get what I want? How do I rise… How do I move up in the world?
But the bible teaches us differently. We are called to lay down our lives. Humble ourselves. Put others needs first.
When my will becomes more important than the will of my Father in heaven it’s then that I need to hit my knees and get right. Pride is the greatest tool my enemy has against me. I know it and it still doesn’t make this life any easier.
